Singularity

Art Installation for Space Art Tanegashima 2023 at JAXA.

Since ancient times, Tanegashima has been a focal point where the Kuroshio Current and the East China Sea Current collide, allowing cultures to drift together. It's the starting point from which these cultural influences spread throughout Japan. Tanegashima is also the launchpad for rockets traveling from Earth to space. It's almost as if Tanegashima is a black hole in another universe and a white hole in ours. This art piece captures the mystical nature of Tanegashima as a singularity and explores an immersive space odyssey from a perspective that transcends dimensions.

The music incorporates actual sounds of rocket launches and control tower communications from JAXA, as well as Tanegashima's traditional music "Oodori”, synchronising with the journey beyond dimensions. The journey begins from a universe in another world, passes through a black hole, traverses our current universe, and heads towards Tanegashima. From macro to micro and the future to the past, this voyage unfolds a kaleidoscopic world of science, life, and digital realms, evoking the birth of life and the universe, and the anticipation of an energy singularity.
